AMPED
Awareness - Mental - Physical - Emotional - Discipline
Self–Defense is an act of defending oneself or one’s belongings. What we don’t realize is how in-depth self–defense is, can and should be. Self–Defense is a strong, powerful and life-changing word or should I say act. The art of Self–Defense is critical for people of all ages. There are several subjects we must focus on in the world of Self–Defense.

AWARENESS
of your Surrounding Elements
The awareness of the elements of your surroundings must focus on your 360 points of view.
The 360 is your area of coverage:
-
At all times, you must know what is around you from every angle.
-
You must not only know what is in front of you but behind and beside you as well.
-
Your peripheral vision must be utilized to its fullest capacity.
The 360 methods will allow you to:
-
See all threats or assaults coming or getting close to your personal space
-
Pay attention to potential threats
-
Observe your potential attacker from head to toe
-
Look for scars, tattoos, birthmarks, lazy eyes, thinning hair or unusual facial features
-
Their height and weight are very important as well
Utilize a systematic scan:
-
Try to remember what they have on from head to toe.
-
Try direct eye contact and stay away from looking down at the ground.
If the attacker observes signs of weakness or fear, they may be more open to approaching you. This is where your physical attributes will, can and should come into play.
MENTAL
Mindset, Preparation and Change
The Mental Mindset is where it all starts. This is the major focal point. This is when you need to truly believe in yourself and especially your combat techniques and training:
-
You must truly understand what is happening, about to happen or will happen.
-
If you don’t execute your tactical training immediately, it will give the attacker a slight edge on you. At this point, you must go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds.
-
You must believe that you are fighting for your last breath. You are truly gasping for air and the only way you will breathe again is if you fight back extremely hard without holding back.
-
You must mentally believe that all your strikes and techniques will be effective.
The damage that you may cause is needed to either escape from or incapacitate the attacker so that neither you nor your family will suffer from a tragic incident. This is where the emotional state can take place which we are trying to avoid.

PHYSICAL
Instincts Through Combat Training
Using tactical strikes, escapes, weapons defense, defensive blocks and ground survival are methods you will learn and master. These methods will give you an advantage against attackers.
The element of surprise will enable you to escape from, incapacitate and/or cause a great deal of pain to your attacker. In taking on an attacker, there are many important factors you must consider:
-
First, the close range which is the most dangerous of all. The attacker is truly in your personal space.
-
Second, the medium range is your common range is when your attacker is at arm’s length apart.
-
Third, the long-range is the most ideal range for survival. At this range, you are two arm’s length apart. This is when your kicking attack comes into play.
EMOTIONAL
Mindset Control
The Emotional Mindset Control is the ability to never give up and/or survive an attack mentally. It can be devastating not only to the victims but to the victim’s family, friends and loved ones.
We must fight until the attackers can’t fight anymore. You must not only think about yourself, but you must also think about those that are close to you. Fight for your kids, your spouse and for those who are in your inner circle. Don’t let your emotions get the best of you.
We must channel our emotions into positive energy and utilize it against the attacker. Your goal is to survive the fight, win the battle and gain your victory.
